Description
Why do zebras have stripes? Many theories center on their utility as some form of camouflage. The patterns may make it difficult for predators to identify a single animal from a running herd and distort distance to one single animal.
Despite their appearance, zebras aren't just black and white. They receive various hues depending on the lighting and type of dust they leave in. Okay, granted, my colors are overdone. All in all, I would like to feel that a Zebra is full of color and life! These animals are strong and a force to reckon with. While they can be easy prey for wild dogs and cats; they have been known to kick lions to their death with the powerful hind legs.
Usually the lead male of the herd, called a stallion, sounds the alarm if danger is spotted and stays at the back of the group to defend against predators if necessary. For any tourist visiting Kenya, we have two types of zebras with distinctly different stripes. The Burchell's has the thick stripes and the Grevy's zebra has clearly thin stripes.
