Description
Ben and Sylvia. These two have a story. Sometime back, we had a plan to eat chicken at our rural home in Kenya. We called our care taker and asked him to get us one so we can enjoy the white meat that weekend. All the time we thought he would bring it over already slaughtered and ready to go.
When we got home that evening with our children, we found a living grey and white cockerel!
The children were beside themselves with joy over this new friend! They decided we keep him from then on. So much for chicken that day.
The following day they named him Ben. Two days later they felt sad that he was alone. They told us it would be good if he had a wife. Sure enough, that evening we got him a female of his species as a wife. They named her Sylvia! All this time we could not bring ourselves to eat chicken at home or in a hotel.
In due time, Sylvia got Seven eggs which later became chicks. Soon, the work and budget for the chicken family was shooting up! It was becoming work for everyone! When my wife suggested we take the whole chicken family to granny's place, everyone was in agreement. I was very happy that the kids agreed too. I was really worried they might say we take Ben's chicks to school!
I had to capture Ben and Sylvia on this Canvas board. We will always remember Ben and Sylvia! The Story of Ben gives me such hope! Imagine when life looks so bad for you! When you are about to die, you get a whole new breath of life! Simply incredible!

Oh Anthony, you have touched my heart and made it warm with Ben & Syliva. Such a beautiful poultry couple. Chickens of all colors are my favorites.
