Description
Herbie is a sentient, anthropomorphic 1963. Volkswagen Beetle. Featured in several Disney motion pictures starting with the 1969 feature film, The Love Bug. He has a mind of his own, is capable of driving himself and has been a serious contender in auto racing competitions.
You will be forgiven to ask where the driver is since this little car is driving on a dirt road heading to some place. To go and see a girlfriend perhaps? Yes, a girlfriend. A car girlfriend to be precise.
If you know, you know. If you don’t know about Herbie, then you don’t. My Brother in Law owns a beetle that is actually painted exactly like the movie Herbie. In fact his little beetle triggered my need to paint Herbie and add him to my collection on FAA. Herbie was not an ordinary car by any stretch of the imagination.
This was a different time. This was a classic time. This really made the people of those days happy. It was a different way to create a humanlike character out of a VW beetle. I wonder how much inspiration the Pixar Animation CARS of 2006 got from HERBIE? Just a thought.
I will not belabor, there is a lot written about this little car in the World Wide Web. Read On. Enjoy this painting with me.

I grew up in VW bugs, and my first car, although not a Beetle, was named Herbie. This is a superb paintnig, Anthony, and brings back memories for so many.
