Artist's Description
Lenana was born in the 1870’s in the Maasai land. He was of the great Laiboni bloodline. His life began when one of the 100 wives of Mbatian gave birth to a baby boy at Ngoshua near Monduli at the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro. Although he was born in a household with many children, he was his only mother’s son.

Inkindongi was rescued by a herdsman then taken to the Ilaser clan. After that, all Inkindongi’s descendants would later be known as Laiboni. The Great medicine men of the Maasai community.
