Description
In Africa, this thing about men marginalizing women is very modern. The past generations respected women. The fact that a women would go to the river and fetch water was not a thing of pain and torture. This was honorable work in those days.
In those days, each gender knew their roles well. A man; a real man, was the hunter gatherer and a farmer. He used to do the very hard work. Till the land and provide food in form of game or crop.
Enter the modern man. Homosapien? Oh no, Homo-avoid-all-sweaty-work. These are the guys who left women to do all the work. Fetch water, fetch firewood, get food crop from farm, till the land and all those other jobs that belonged to the Men.
This is why we look at women in Africa tilling land, carrying water and firewood, and feel sad. Yet, a woman carrying water from the river used to be a normal thing. Why would it not have been if the real men were out there tilling land and hunting? Just ask yourself that question. What is going on with us men getting all manicured and having all these lovely fingers and stuff? ... and pedicure?
A manicured and Pedicured Hunter! Please, give me a break!
