Description
Lenana was born in the 1870’s in the Maasai land. He was of the great Laiboni bloodline. His life began when one of the 100 wives of Mbatian gave birth to a baby boy at Ngoshua near Monduli at the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro. Although he was born in a household with many children, he was his only mother’s son.
Legend has it that Mbatian was a descendant of the famous Inkindongi, a man with prophetic powers who had wandered into Maasai land hundreds of years before by chance. Inkindongi was rescued by a herdsman then taken to the Ilaser clan. After that, all Inkindongi’s descendants would later be known as Laiboni. The Great medicine men of the Maasai community.
Much is written about Loiboni Lenana in history and on World Wide Web. He is one of the great medicine men of the Maasai people of Kenya. I have a long list of heroes I wish to paint and today I put my brush on canvas to give Oloiboni Lenena Mbatian colorful presence in the world history.
Oloiboni Lenana Mbatian, another great human being that we will not be forgetting any time soon.
