Artist's Description
I stared working on this concept long before Lupita Nyongo won the Oscar Award. I had the idea of an African Tsunami represented by the swift advancement by Lupita Nyong'o as she gathered several awards away from home.
I added the Oscar sculpture after she won on March 2, 2014, Los Angeles, at the 86th annual Academy Awards
In the movie 12 Years a Slave, Lupita plays the character Patsey, a woman so brutalised by her owner that she begs a fellow slave to kill her. A tearful scene to watch.
In her words: "It does not escape me for one moment that so much joy in my life is due to so much pain in someone else's," she said in reference to Patsey, the slave she portrayed in the acclaimed film, which was based on a real-life memoir.
After receiving the award, she concluded: "No matter where you're from, your dreams are valid."
The Oscar Lupita got is so precious to Kenya. It is our first! It is also a great honor to the African Continent. The lit...

Portrait Painting, Canvas Prints, Photo Prints, Framed Prints, Tshirt Prints and more utility Art I am a natural student of art since I was a little child. I have loved drawing all my life. Wonderful creativity. The art emotes feeling as would a true actor(tress) elicit the deep feeling of their captive audience. It expresses the turbulence and peace. The end of matters and yet something new. She embraces her past, her ancestry close to her heart, taking it where ever her life leads, as she intently looks forwarded to the future. Your praising another artist is not only good, but rare (Well... except for on FAA). Excellent execution of your style and techniques. As your culture and tradition places a high value on teaching, please share your talent with the next generations.
Anthony Mwangi replied:
Lorenzo, man, I have no words for your comment. Beautiful! You have given the painting a whole new meaning. I see what you are saying and more. The little girl from Africa did us good! Thanks!
