Artist's Description

Practically all readers of the Gĩkũyũ Language will remember the famous paragraph beginning his story as told by Fred K. Kago in “Wĩrute Gũthoma. Ibuku rĩa Keeri”
(A book written by a Kenyan Writer of the Kenyan Kikuyu Tribe Himself)

As the legend goes, He was born during a time when the Kikuyu people had a lot of cows. Meaning he was born at a time of abundance due to rains in this region.

Wang'ombe was the son of a Kikuyu man and a Maasai woman. He was able to speak both Maasai and Kikuyu languages fluently. Thus, he gained the name HINGA which means hypocrite. He could pretend he didn’t know any of the languages and listen in to conversations of both tribes. He grew up to be a formidable warrior for the Kikuyu tribe. He was accepted because of his ability to infiltrate his enemies and bring victory to his side. Sometimes he would be an enemy of both since in reality he was also a double agent.
