Description
I have been looking forward to this painting. This one has a real story.
As I grew up, there was this ever happy guy who used to deliver water to people’s homes on his donkey.
The guy’s name was Njuguna. He loved his donkey so much this man. I never once saw him hit his Donkey with the stick that he always carried. I think it was just meant to keep the donkey aware of something that could happen to him but never did. People loved him because he was never late on a delivery. He was always in a good mood. (I honestly don’t know how he managed to do that day in day out).
Such was Njuguna. Due to being seen always with his donkey, people nicknamed him “Njuguna wa Ndingiri” Directly translated that would read “ Njuguna of Donkey”. I had to name this painting after that nickname. Any other title wouldn’t have done this work justice. Njuguna wa Ndigiri died some time back. This painting will keep him in the minds of those who knew him. Where do such happy people come from, and where do such people go?

Beautiful tribute to a lovely man and I wonder about his patient and accepting demeanor too, I have met people like that and their desires are tempered. This is a wonderful work F/L

First of all, this is an absolutely brilliant painting Anthony. The colors are just as vivid as all of your other wonderful works... amazing as always. Secondly, I think that this is a wonderful tribute. Having read the story behind its creation makes the painting so much more special. Thank you for sharing with us my friend.
