Hyraxes and Agama Lizard on Mt. Kenya Rocks. These guys live up there on the rocks. Both the Lizard and the hyraxes have to be careful not to become dinner for birds of prey. Eagles love the hyraxes. They eat them. So much for love.
The good scientists say that Hyraxes are related to elephants and manatees. Modern hyraxes are members of the Procaviidae family, the only living family within the Hyracoidea. If you ask me, I don’t see why they have to be related to elephants and manatees to be members of this great world. I just think they look just ok the way they are. Their own kind. What a delight! I saw this pretty little lizards in Africa when I was there, but I have never seen a Hyraxe, that I know of. They are so cute, I probably would have had one for a "pet" when I was small! I love those beautiful mountains, also! A gorgeous painting, Anthony V/L
