The Cattle Egrets have no love lost with any particular Mammal. Egrets will get engaged in a relationship with just about any large mammal. Elephants however aren't involved in any other symbiotic relationships. Egrets are benefited with a free ride and meal while elephants are freed of parasites, mostly kicked up on them while walking.
It is a lovely sight to see the giants walk around browsing while surrounded by egrets either on their body or just perched just around the elephant. Sometimes they look as if they are talking.
ELEPHANT: “Hey little fella, I can see you are still sparkling clean. How is the family?”
EGRET: “Just fine big guy, you are loaded with parasites today I see.”
ELEPANT: You know your job little guy, most of them are also flying from the ground below.”
EGRET: “As usual, I came over with my brothers and sisters, we will be all over you like white on rice in a minute, what do you say to that?”
