Description
The Brown Snake Eagle feeds mainly on snakes. This Eagle is capable of killing even very poisonous snakes and big ones like cobras. The legs are thick skinned to protect the eagle from snake bites.
The Brown Snake Eagle prefers to take over abandoned nests rather than build one. It also likes repairing destroyed ones making them a new home. In some case, it has to build from scratch if no abandoned houses are available.
These Eagles (Snake eagles) lay only one egg per year which is incubated by the female.
Strange fellow this one. I would prefer to call him a marvel of creation.

Every one of your Eagles manages to captivate me, filling me with a sense of wonder. You convey the true spirit of each living bird, bringing them to life on canvas. In doing so, you're presenting Africa's Eagles to the world, as well as to populations within the vast expanses of the African Continent where this bird doesn't live. Thus you educate, enlighten, inspire. You gave this bird a glorious Technicolor sky, where it will always see horizons beyond our vision. Wonderful!

Anthony you are a master artist brother. This Snake Eagle is a magnificent creature. Your painting does him great justice earning you the prestigious "Snake Hunter" award. I imagine it would be safe to assume that the people of Africa are happy to have these birds as neighbors. l.v.f.

Thanks Dave. We do love to be with these snake hunters! They are part of a grand environmental balancing mechanism. I appreciate your comment
