Description
Wangari Muta Maathai. A great Kenyan, A great woman, a great human being. She did greatly in the world of environmental Conservation.
Wangari was born on April 1, 1940, in Nyeri, Kenya. She Died on 25th September 2011. I can safely say, without a doubt that Wangari single handedly begun a Movement and a culture of tree planting in Kenya. Now that she is gone, we still plant trees the way she taught us! She was a real mother to this generation!
During her life time over 30 million trees were planted. She did not relent even at the blink of death. Wangari Maathai was awarded the 2004 Noble Peace Prize due to her fight for the environmental conservation and standing against governments which worked towards destroying natural habitats.
She Began the Green Belt Movement that still gets stronger with time even several years after her death. Wangari Maathai will no doubt remain in the History books of Kenya and the world at large for her fight against those who are ruining our beautiful earth!
