Description
Wahlberg's Eagle is a bird of prey. There are several morph forms of Wahlberg’s Eagles. Dark morphs are rufous to dark brown with pale edges along the wing-coverts, head, and underside.
All Wahlberg’s Eagles have a gray undertail and pale primary feather bases. The eyes are dark brown and the cere and feet are yellow. Wahlberg’s Eagles eat reptiles, mammals, and birds, in roughly the same proportions.
They are one of the most common eagles in sub-Saharan Africa, and though poisoning and hunting are threats, their population hasn’t declined in decades.
Wahlberg’s Eagles are currently listed as Least Concern by BirdLife International.

Power, majesty, defiance: This Eagle possesses all of these traits. I love the stance and attitude. The imperious glare in its eyes, silently warning us to admire with reserved caution. This bird commands our respect. As I regard it, I realize I'm seeing a bird that has survived many generations; millennia in the span of time. Long before the pyramids of the kingdoms of ancient Egypt began to rise, this bird already ascended to the skies. I love your Post-Impressionism, Vincent Van Gogh inspired sky! Anthony, in presenting yet another of Africa's Eagles to us, we receive the gift of knowledge as well as enchantment. Your talent is is a great gift to these birds, causing us to stop, observe and appreciate their existence in our world.
